Susan J. Smith has been photographing for many years. She earned her undergraduate degree in photography from the Ohio state University in 1974.  She spent time working for the State of Washington, working with people that had developmental disabilities and their families. During this period she purchased camera and studio equipment. In 1986 she opened Lifestyle Portraiture located on Whidbey Island Washington. The need developed to learn the new technologies so she is pursuing a Masters of Fine Arts degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). She is due to complete it in August of 2007.  She has exhibited work in galleries around the country and has had a number of images published including book covers, video covers, and in national and local publications. She continues to work and is currently working on a documentary project in Savannah GA.
