Thesis > Past Work

While beginning research on my thesis, I came across a passage from G. K. Chesterton where he states "as long as the vision is changing, reality will be exactly the same." Great writers, directors, and artists often focus on one central theme, continually exploring variations of that theme. Creating a masterpiece eludes many because an artist's worth must be viewed in terms of his life's work. The dreams that span my entire life contain the purest artistic inspiration - being unchanging, they contain the most potent beauty. I've collected here some of the images of the forest from undergrad and high school. Each image contains a central theme which I want my life to exude and my thesis to encapsulate. This ideal simply consists of three things romance, transformation, and community. Romance encompasses experiences which combine fantasy with reality, moment where dreams become life. Danger, sadness, joy, and passion often fill these moments. Additionally, ancient things captivate the romantic heart. The mystical greatness of time, the universe, and the supernatural are continually felt as a part of everyday life. Living in plain view of the romantic realities leads me to continually transform myself and the world, a desire to see heaven invade earth. Finally, the communal experience of this transformation carries us from isolated ideals to actualized truth.
