"A Study of Anatomy - Leonardo Davinci"

What better way to learn the art of drawing than from one of the masters? I chose to study this piece by Leonardo Davinci because I love cross-hatching and the piece was full of it.

medium: micron pen

"The Thinker"

medium: charcoal and white chalk

"Hands"

What things are acomplished by the hands of men. It was imperative to take a closer look and study them. I focused mainly on contrast and hyper rendering.

Medium: graphite

"A study of proportion"

A person can spend their entire lifetime devoted to the study of the human body. My focus was gesture.

medium: compressed charcoal

"A study of proportion 2"

medium: compressed charcoal

"Still life with pastel"

We were to choose a still life and draw it in pastel. This is the only thing I've done in pastel and would love to return to this medium because it allows me to mix and throw colors into objects where normally you wouldn't see.

medium: colored pastel

"Torn hat - Thomas Sully"

Artwork explored using other mediums can lead to a whole new meaning and feel of a piece. I chose to recreate Thomas Sully's "Torn Hat" that was originally done in 1401 by oil.

medium: charcoal

"Tromp Loeil collage"

Tromp Loeil is famous for his hyper real and extreme contrast pieces. Focus on this piece was to put as much contrast into the work as possible with as many values as possible.

medium: graphite

"The skeleton"

The skeleton is the bodies basic form and is a great way to learn the basis of anatomy.

medium: compressed charcoal and white chalk

"Lie, cheat and steal"

My passion for silkscreening can only be matched by my concern about American Media.

medium: acrylic paint and silk screen

"Foreshortening portrait"

This piece was aimed at studying foreshortening.

medium: vine and compressed charcoal

"Feet"

Man walks many miles on these yet rarely do we get a chance to see them up close.

medium: graphite

"Praying"

I decided that the piece was finished after thinking it was still a work in progress for months. I had wanted to put a gun in as well as both of them holding rosery beads with a cross. I decided that the tension was ultimately reinforced by the actions signified rather than the raw imagery.
