Primary Type: Hand Rendered, Serlio, Venetian
Recent works consisting of sewn fabric sculptures were the focus of this fictional
exhibition. In keeping with the themes of her subject matter as well as the
medium, the “logotype” of Bourgeois’ name was physically constructed
from threads of various weights, thicknesses, and colors sewn through muslin
fabric. This motif was carried throughout the catalog as well, and is meant
to convey the very personal, very emotional nature of the artist’s work
while somewhat literally interpreting her process. It refers not only to the
actual fabric medium, but also to the fabric of the family.
