Firstly, you should be aware that the Dancers only accept a few races into their ranks: Humans, Barbarians, and Gypsies. Race-changing into one of these races is acceptable, but race-changing to any other race after becoming a Dancer is not.
Secondly, if you have any notions of casting celestial magic, whether through innate ability, scrolls, or items----Don't be a Dancer. Celestial magic is expressly forbidden, save for enchanted weapons and protectives. And even they will fail you.
Once those two issues are aside, you should ask yourself: Are you ready, willing, and capable of undertaking the demands, rigors, and rewards of being a Dancer? Becoming one of us requires you to be physically fit enough to keep up with our fighting style, and wear heavy armor. Which leads me to another aspect of the Dancers--we all wear armor. Now, we're not asking everyone to get into full plate, but we do expect at least a little bit of armor--simple bracers and leg greeves, for example.
Red is the identifying color for Dancers--your attire must contain at least 30% red in it. 50% is preferred. As a cadet you are not expected to immediately get a bunch of red clothing, but it would be a good idea to start building up a red wardrobe.
The Dancers in Tyrangel are seperated from Palinor by a great distance, so we usually conduct more local Dancer training, and visits to Palinor are not immediately required. Going through Dancer training is a must--you cannot fight with our style or work with us as a team (effectively) without it.
Becoming a Dancer is not automatic. There are trials and tests.... you could possibly spend months as a cadet, regardless of your prowess on the battlefield. Becoming a Dancer is more than just the fighting, it is about living up to a moral code that few can reach. Courage, relentless determination, and selflessness in battle, to name a few. The Dancers are a team, we work together, fight together, and die together. If you are not a team player, it probably will not work out.
If you wish to begin your training as a Dancer, contact Captain Travador, or any of the other Dancers on the Contacts page.
